Abstract :
This study was conducted to find out the relationship between university culture and student identity in Islamic Azad University. According to Denison (2000), university culture as an independent variable is defined as compatibility, flexibility, job envolvement, and duty. Hypotheses were proposed for the relationships between these four components of university culture and student identity. To collect the required data, a questionnaire was designed with 51 items (30 questions related to the educational culture and the rest 21 ones related to student identity). The validity of the questionnaire was approved by experts and, for reliability, questionnaire was distributed between 30 pilot students and its Kronbach’s alpha coefficient was calculated equal to 0.93. Statistical population included all students of Islamic Azad University, Science and Research Branch and its sample was 378 persons according to Morgan table. The Pearson Correlation Coefficient was used for data analysis. Results show that there is a significant relationship between university culture and student identity with Correlation Coefficient of r=0.380 at probability value of P=0.05. Based on the collected data, there is also a correlation between additional component of university culture and student identity. Consequently, it can be inferred that collegiate culture shall be improved and amended for improvement of students’ identity and efficiency when they enter the job market.
