Abstract :
Sexual dysfunction is a common sexual problem that causes serious problems in the quality of individual and social life. Given the importance of sexual health, the aim of the present study was to determine the prevalence of sexual dysfunction in married students. The present study was descriptive (field finding). For this purpose, 608 married students of Islamic Azad University, North Tehran Branch, were surveyed using an accessible and voluntary method. The questionnaires for sexual dysfunction in women (FSFI) and men (IIEF) were used to collect data. The data were analyzed using one-way analysis of variance and SPSS version 26 software. The average number of sexual intercourses and the number of orgasms per month were higher in men than in women, and the lowest average was related to the desire subscale in both women and men. The prevalence of desire dysfunction was 14.82%, arousal dysfunction was 20.8%, wetness dysfunction was 73.9%, orgasm dysfunction was 15.16%, satisfaction dysfunction was 48.17%, pain dysfunction was 58.15%, and the overall prevalence of female sexual dysfunction was 7.42%. The results also showed that the overall prevalence of dysfunction in men was 77.5%. Considering that sexual dysfunction is the basis of many social problems and that desirable sexual function has an undeniable role in various aspects of life, appropriate educational and therapeutic planning, including premarital counseling, sexual education, couples therapy, and sex therapy, is recommended based on the culture of the community.
