The Effectiveness of Integrated Education on Communication Skills and Resilience on Mental Health of Parents of children with mental disabilities

Abstract :
The purpose of the study was to investigate the effectiveness of the Integrated education of communication and resilience skills on mental health of Parents of children with mental disabilities. The research method is semi-experimental using pre-test and post-test with control group. The statistical population consisted of all parents of of the mentally disabled parents of Torbat-jam city in 2020. Using random sampling, 30 parents of mentally disabled, who participated in the welfare organization's call, were selected by 30 parents and They were randomly assigned to control (15 subjects) and experimental (15 subjects) groups The data gathering tool was General health questionnaire (Goldberg & Hiller, 1979) and A Integrated of communication and resilience skills package developed during the 8 sessions of 90 minutes on the experimental group. Data were analyzed using single-variable and multi-variable covariance analysis. The results showed there was a significant difference between the control and experimental groups in terms of mental health (p≤0.05). The results of multivariate analysis of covariance also showed the combined training of communication skills and resilience improved physical symptoms, anxiety symptoms and sleep disorders, depression and social functioning of Parents of children with mental disabilities. According to the findings, can use the integrated training of communication skills and resilience to promote mental health of parents of children with mental disabilities.
