The role of design education for creative painting on the self-efficacy of third-grade middle school students

Abstract :
Painting is a constructive activity and a window to comprehensive thoughts and feelings that helps in the depth of understanding, social and emotional growth. The aim of the present study is to investigate the effect of teaching creative painting on the self-efficacy of third-grade middle school students in West Gilan County. The research method is a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test-post-test design and a control group. The statistical population of this study was all third-grade middle school students in West Gilan County, two classes of which were selected from a multi-stage sampling and randomly assigned to the experimental and control groups. The instrument of the research was the Morris Children and Adolescents Self-Efficacy Questionnaire. The data of this study were collected using descriptive statistics (mean, deviation, frequency) and inferential statistics (analysis of covariance test). The results of the analysis and analysis of covariance showed that teaching creative painting has a significant role on self-efficacy and its sub-components (social self-efficacy, academic and emotional self-efficacy). Providing a context and educational platform for creative painting education in middle schools should be considered because of the effects of creative painting on social self-efficacy, academic self-efficacy, and emotional self-efficacy.
