Relationship of media literacy with academic satisfaction via academic engagement and social bonding with school in high school students of Urmia city

Abstract :
Present research aimed to investigate the relationship of media literacy with academic satisfaction via academic engagement and social bonding with school. This study was a cross-sectional from type of correlation. The statistical population of research were included all high school students of Urmia county in 2017-18 academic years that from them 380 person were selected through stratified sampling method. The instrument of research were included media literacy (Falsafi, 2014), academic satisfaction (Lent & et al, 2005), academic engagement (Tinio, 2009) and social bonding with school (Maddox & Prinz, 2003). Data was analyzed with path analysis method and with using SPSS-21 & LISREL-8.8 software. The results showed media literacy had a direct positive and significant effect on academic engagement, social bonding with school and academic satisfaction of students. Also academic engagement and social bonding with school had a direct positive and significant effect on academic satisfaction of students. In addition media literacy via two variables of academic engagement and social bonding with school had an indirect positive and significant effect on academic satisfaction of students (P<0/01). Therefore, the results indicate the importance of media literacy, academic engagement and social bonding with school on increasing the academic satisfaction of students.
