Effectiveness of Positive Parenting Training on Children’s Internalizing Problems based on Paternal versus Maternal Parenting Behaviors.

Abstract :
The aim of the present study is to measure the effectiveness of positive parenting training on children's internalizing problems with regard to paternal and maternal parenting behaviors. This goal can ultimately help improve children's mental and emotional health and support parents in this path. An applied research method was used, and a pre-test and post-test design with a control group was used. Thirty parents of 7-10 year old students with internalizing problems in Amol city at 2024-2025 years were selected through purposive sampling and randomly assigned to two experimental and control groups. The data collection process was fieldwork. Achenbach's Child Behavioral Checklist (CBCL) tool, parent version, was used to collect data. A researcher-made positive parenting training package was also used. Data analysis with analysis of covariance test in SPSS software shows that using positive parenting training as an intervention method is effective on all components of internalizing problems, including anxiety-depression, Isolation-depression, and physical complaints. It is suggested that positive parenting training be used as a preventive and therapeutic approach in centers dealing with children with internalizing problems.
