Abstract :

The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of cognitive self-compassion therapy on parental burnout, time attitude, and emotional self-awareness in mothers of children with mental retardation in Tehran. This study was applied in terms of purpose and method, and was a quasi-experimental study based on a pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of the present study included mothers of children with mental retardation in districts 1 and 6 of Tehran. The sample size was 40 people, who were randomly divided into two experimental and control groups. In order to collect data, the Parental Burnout Questionnaire by Rosecom, Biranda, and Miklage (2018), Time Attitude by Millo and Worrall (2010), and Emotional Self-Awareness by Grant, Franklin, and Langford (2002) were used. The research findings showed that at the 0.001 level, cognitive self-compassion has a significant effect on parental burnout, attitude towards time, and emotional self-awareness in mothers of children with mental retardation in Tehran.
