Comparison of Life Satisfaction between the Athlete and Non-athlete Students: the effect of gender

Abstract :
The aim of the current study was to compare life satisfaction between the athlete and non-athlete students according to gender. The statistical population consisted of all the students of Islamic Azad University, Shabestar Branch. Among them 55 athletes (30 male & 25 female) and 55 non-athletes (30 male & 25 female) were selected. The athletes were those who had worked continuously under a coach at least during the past year in one field of sports. The data were collected using Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS) and were analyzed through t-test. The results show that there is a significant difference in life satisfaction between athletes and non-athletes. In other words, athletes have satisfaction with life more than non-athletes. But there was not a significant difference in life satisfaction between men and women.
