The Relationship between Personality Characteristics and Emotional Intelligence of High School Third – grade Girl Students in Tabriz

Abstract :
The present research has discussed the relationship between personality characteristics and emotional intelligence among high school third-grade girl students of Tabriz in1388-89. The research is of description-correlation type. The Statistical population included 177 persons. The sampling method was cluster multi- stage random Sampling. The data were collected by using NEOFFI questionnaire and emotional intelligence scale. The data analysis was conducted by SPSS software and Pearson's correlational coefficient. The results indicated that there was a significant positive relationship between neuroticism, extraversion and consciousness with emotional intelligence in the following order respectively: -0.75, 0.25, and 0.38 (P<0.01). Furthermore, the results showed that neuroticism, extroversion and conscientiousness can predict emotional intelligence 56%, 8% and 15%, respectively. Therefore, it seems that attention to the personality characteristics can help to attain therapeutic goals and behavioral interference to enhance the emotional intelligence of high-school girl students.
