A Study of the Relationship between Marital Conflict and Child Affective-behavioral Psychopathological Symptoms

Abstract :
This study aims to consider the relationship between marital conflict and child affective-behavioral psychopathological symptoms. In order to do this study, we selected and studied a sample of 183 people out of the population of the fifth-grade students of the elementary schools of Tabriz including 90 girls and 93 boys by multi-phase accidental sampling. The children’s mothers filled out marital conflict questionnaire and the teachers filled out child problems and capabilities questionnaire. The resulting regression analysis shows the predicting role of marital conflict in affective and behavioral symptoms of the child. Based on the findings of the current study, it could be taken into account that the parents’ conflict decrease through training programs could be helpful in decreasing affective and behavioral psychopathological symptoms of the child.
