Abstract :
The present study was a quasi-experimental and applied research that was conducted by two to gwas roups (control group and experimental group) and also pre-test and post-test design. The purpose of this study was to investigate the the effect of compassion-based group therapy training On the quality quality of life, self-esteem and mental health of spouses of substance abuser clients in Shiraz. The statistical population of this study included all the spouses of drug abuse patients in Shiraz (about 40 to 70 people), of which 30 people were randomly selected as the sample of population. The measuring instruments of this study included the World Health Organization Quality of Life Scale (1996), Cooper-Smith Self-Esteem Scale (1967) and Goldberg Mental Health Scale (1979), the validity and reliability of this scales were estimated and used. In this regard, first, all participants were assessed by a pre-test in two groups (control and experimental) and after training intervention (holding compassion-based group therapy sessions) on the experimental group for 8 sessions, again a post-test was administered administered.. The obtained data from the study were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics (analysis of covariance) through SPSS software version 24. The results showed that compassion-based group therapy training has a positive effect on the quality of life, self-esteem and mental health of patients.
