Cisplatin is an anti-cancer drug, but has toxic effects vigorous on various organs, especially kidneys, ears and testicles and thus one of the most important side effects of infertility is reversible or irreversible after treatment with cisplatin . The aim of this study was to evaluate the histopathological changes in the testes of dogs, following administration of cisplatin as a chemotherapeutic agent effective for the treatment of solid tumors. A total of 10 adult male Iranian cross-breed dogs in this study were selected (7 tests, 3 control). The test animals at a dose of 0.75 mg/kg/day as intravenous cisplatin was given for 5 consecutive days. Physical exam 2 times a day for signs of toxicity with cisplatin were evaluated. In the twenty-eighth day of the study, testicles surgically removed and histopathological were evaluated. Clinical observations also showed that the toxicity of cisplatin. In assessing microscopic atrophy and severe degeneration of seminiferous tubules, the sharp decline in sperm count, Reduction of germ and Sertoli cells, The destruction of the cells near the lumen of seminiferous tubules, Cellular debris in the lumen of the seminiferous tubules, And a decrease in Leydig cells and perivascular fibrosis with presence of multi-core giant cell was observed. This study shows for the first timethat Cisplatin administration of high doses repeated at intervals low in patients with chemotherapy are forced to use the program, Can lead to infertility and serious injuries to the testicles.
