Prevalence of Singamus Trachea in native poultry in Babol city

Abstract :
The Singamus trachea is a breathing apparatus for birds that can be seen in domestic and wild birds .The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of this parasite in native poultry of Babol. This study was conducted on 150 native poultry from different parts of Babol city in 1393 and after anatomy of poultry; their trachea was examined in terms of the presence of parasitic Singamus trachea. Of these, 65 were infected (43.3%), respectively, of poultry (61.5%), cock (21.5%), turkey (12.4%) and geese (4.6%). The highest contamination was observed in the warm season. In this study, it was found that the contamination of the Singamus trachea parasite is very common among poultry inhabitants of Babol. Therefore, more studies are needed in this field and appropriate strategies for preventing and controlling this disease are presented. It is suggested that educational programs about periodical anti-parasitic treatments are necessary for veterinarians and rural people.
