Assessing the livability condition of metropolises in subjective and objective dimensions (Case study: Tabriz metropolis)

Abstract :
The necessity and importance of paying attention to the theory of sustainable development and the resulting approaches, such as the livability approach, will create a city away from economic, social and environmental problems. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the Condition of indicators (mental and objective) of the livability of Tabriz metropolis and to examine the overall livability Condition of 10 Regions of this metropolis. It is applied and descriptive and analytical in terms of research methods. In order to assess the mental condition of livability in 3 dimensions of economic, social and environmental (including 15 indicators and 158 items), first the relevant questionnaire was designed, after determining the statistical sample in 10 regions of Tabriz using Cochran method (413 samples) Confirmation of the validity and reliability of the questionnaire of information related to the collected mental dimension. Also, the latest statistical yearbook of Tabriz metropolis (year 2019) has been used to examine the objective dimension (including 64 items). In order to analyze the relevant information, Shannon entropy method has been used to weigh the indicators and items of research and Morris correction method has been used to determine the livability of regions based on world literature at 5 levels; Finally, GIS software has been used to draw maps to better understand the spatial condition of economic livability at the area level. The results show that, 8 out of 10 metropolitan region of Tabriz have obtained Morris scores below 50, which according to the global livability literature indicates a level of five; That is, it is unacceptable, only region 2 is in a tolerable condition and is in a better position than other regions, Region 5 with a Morris score of 56.33 is in poor condition. Therefore, the condition of Tabriz metropolis is critical and unacceptable in terms of livability.
