Differences in attachment styles have been linked to both emotion regulation and psychological functioning, but the emotional regulatory mechanisms through which attachment styles might impact symptoms of depression and anxiety are unclear. The aim of the present study was to examine the mediating role of difficulties in emotion regulation on the relationship between attachment pathologies and depression and anxiety symptoms. For this purpose through a descriptive study, 528 students (274 females, 254 males) were selected using convenience sampling from the University of Tehran students and were evaluated in terms of attachment, depression, anxiety, and emotion regulation difficulty. The results indicated that the hypothesized model had a good fit with the observed data. The correlations between insecure attachment styles, difficulties in emotion regulation, and depression and anxiety symptoms were significantly positive. Based on the results of path analysis, difficulties in emotion regulation play a significant mediating role on the relationship between attachment insecurity and depression and anxiety symptoms. According to the results of the present study, it can be concluded that insecure attachment styles and difficulties in emotion regulation can predict severity of depression and anxiety symptoms. Considering these variables may be important in the processes of prevention, diagnosis and treatment of depression and anxiety symptoms, as well as promoting mental health in general population. Multiple sclerosis is one of the most prevalent disorders of the central nervous system. The efforts to identify different factors concerning quality of life in chronic patients, have been increased in recent years. These efforts have been made trying to answer the question of which personality or personal factors affect the amount of suffering or the quality of life in chronic physical patients and if having some special kind of personality characteristics or special kind of vision to disease leads to prediction of quality of life in these patients? So the aim of this study was to investigate the role of illness perception and type D personality in predicting quality of life in multiple sclerosis patients. For this purpose 79 participants were chosen among the members of Tabriz MS Association by using convenience sampling method and were evaluated in illness perception, personality type and quality of life. The results of correlation coefficient and regression analysis indicates that illness perception and type D personality variables significantly predict 59% of variance of quality of life in multiple sclerosis patients. So it can be concluded that illness perception and type D personality variables have a significant role in predicting quality of life in people suffering from multiple sclerosis. Manuscript profile

Although the distinction between conditional and unconditional schemas by theoretical and clinical application is very important, previous studies have only provided some preliminary evidence for the development of schemas by conditionality, and few studies have examined the distinction between conditional and unconditional schemas. The aim of the present study was to investigate the role of sources of childhood emotional maltreatment (parent’s, peer’s and others’ emotional maltreatment in childhood) in predicting of conditional and unconditional schemas in adulthood. For this purpose in a descriptive correlational study, 315 students were selected from students of Tehran universities (University of social welfare and rehabilitation science, Khajenasir University, Shahid Beheshti University, Azad University, Payame Noor University) with available sampling selected and were examined on life experiences and maladaptive schemas questionnaires. The result of multiple regression analysis showed that parent’s and peer’s emotional maltreatment predicted unconditional schemas and parent’s, peer’s and other’s emotional maltreatment predicted conditional schemas in college students. It seems that, maltreatment of sources that are more persistence and intensity in the person’s life, are stronger predictors in predicting conditional and unconditional schemas. Because sources of maltreatment that have a role in developing unconditional schemas, certainly have also a role in predicting conditional schemas. Manuscript profile

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers and accounts for almost one third of all cancers in women. The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of mindfulness method on self-efficacy, perceived stress and life orientation in women with breast cancer. To this end, 40 patients with breast cancer were selected in the form of a quasi-experimental design of pretest-posttest along with the control group, using convenience sampling and were randomly assigned to both groups of experiment and control. The experimental group underwent two months of treatment. The control group did not undergo any intervention. The groups were tested in terms of self-efficacy, perceived stress and life orientation both before and after the intervention. Covariance analysis results indicated that mindfulness-based stress reduction therapy has made a significant difference in increasing positive life orientation and decreasing perceived stress in the experimental group both in the post-test and follow up stage. But there was no significant difference in the self-efficacy rate in patients. It seems that this therapy can be an appropriate method in speeding up the healing process, compliance and prevention of recurrence of the disease by targeting the mechanisms involved in stress and life orientation in patients with cancer. The participants were evaluated for pain intensity in three phases of pretest, posttest and follow up. Each experimental groups experienced 10 sessions of psychotherapy. While the control group did not receive any intervention. Analysis of mixed variance showed that there were significant differences between experiment groups (cognitive – behavioral and model- based) and control group (waiting list). But there were not significant differences between cognitive – behavioral and model- based therapies in the reducing pain. This research showed that cognitive – behavioral and model- based therapies can be effective treatments in reducing chronic musculoskeletal pain patients. Manuscript profile
