Abstract :
The purpose of this research was to investigate the effect of emotion–focused therapy on body appreciation, the sexual quality of life and self-compassion in menopausal women. The design of the research was a quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest and control group design. The statistical population included all the menopausal women living in Esfahan city during 2023. For this purpose, 32 of menopausal women were chosen through a convenience sampling method along with inclusion criteria and placed randomly into two groups of experimental and control (with 16 members). In order to collect data, questionnaires of Body Appreciation (Tylka & Wood-Barcalow, 2015), The Sexual Quality of Life (Symonds & et al, 2005) and Self-Compassion (Neff, 2003) were used. The experimental group received treatment based on cognitive-analytical therapy in 10 sessions of 90 minutes with two-month follow-up and the control group did not receive any therapeutic intervention. Research data were analyzed using repeated measures analysis of variance and Bonferroni post hoc. The results showed that after the emotion–focused therapy, there was a significant difference in the research variables in the pre-test and post-test stages, and there was no significant difference between the post-test and the follow-up, which indicates an improvement in body appreciation, the sexual quality of life and self-compassion and in menopausal women (P<0.05) and this effect was stable during follow-up (P<0.05).
