Abstract :
The purpose of this descriptive research was to examine the relationship between sources of social support and physical activity (PA) level among female college students. The population was 4029 female students at Arak University in 2013 from which 380 subjects were selected randomly. The data was collected using the following questioners: Demographic Characteristics, International Physical Activity – Short Form(Ainsworth & et al, 2000), and Multi dimensional Social Support Scale (Zimet & et al, 1988). Results on regression analysis revealed while there was a significant positive relationship between two sources of social support (friends and others) with PA, the relationship between friend's social support and PA was greater (r=0.123, P≤0.05). According to the research findings, friend's social support was the only predictor of PA among female college students (P≤0.05) and justified 12% of variance in PA.
