Abstract :
The present study is based on examining the role of architectural space layout in increasing the efficiency of office buildings, with an emphasis on energy, ergonomics, social interactions, and employee productivity. Office buildings, as one of the most energy-intensive types of buildings, in addition to their significant contribution to energy consumption, have a direct role in the quality of the work environment and organizational performance. In this study, an attempt has been made to evaluate the relationship between the characteristics of layout and spatial organization with key indicators including environmental comfort, social interactions, sustainability and energy optimization, and employee productivity using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method and software tools such as Smart PLS and SPSS. The findings show that optimizing spatial organization can have a significant impact on reducing energy consumption, improving thermal and visual comfort, strengthening human communication in the workplace, and ultimately increasing the overall efficiency of office buildings. The results of this study emphasize that the view of spatial layout should not be limited to the physical or aesthetic dimension, but can be used as a management and strategic tool to improve the productivity, sustainability, and quality of work life of employees in office environments. Accordingly, the present study, while providing empirical evidence from Tehran, presents a new model for the design and management of office buildings that can be a valuable guide for architects, organizational managers, and urban policymakers on the path to sustainable and productive development.
