Abstract :
Nowadays, the increasing trend of traffic resulting from the growth of private cars has imposed numerous environmental challenges on cities, and in order to face these challenges, it is essential to benefit from transportation options based on sustainability indicators. Meanwhile, emphasizing human-centeredness is considered one of the most important approaches to environmentally friendly transportation, and the present study has been written with the aim of identifying the possibilities and limitations of environmental development in Tabriz metropolis based on human-centered transportation planning. The research method in the present study is mixed (quantitative-qualitative) with an applied purpose and an analytical and exploratory nature. which in order to analyze the information, have been used the structural equation modeling technique in Amos software and the variation gap test in SPSS software. The research findings show that the lack of an integrated and systematic approach in transportation management and planning, the lack of comprehensive content of transportation plans, the lack of use of public transportation vehicles with clean fuel, and the lack of coordination with coefficients of 0.802, 0.779, and 0.751, respectively, are among the most important limitations to the environmental development of Tabriz metropolis based on human-centered transportation. Also, the development of metro and express bus lines, emphasis on the development of sidewalks, the appropriate number of public vehicles and their appropriate timing, and the existence of active executive organizations related to public transportation are considered among the most important facilities with coefficients of 0.756, 0.722, 0.694, and 0.667, respectively.
