Investigating the Level of User Satisfaction with the Quantity and Quality of Mehregan Park's in Tehran in order to Increase the Quality of Life

Abstract :
Background and Objective: Urban green spaces are one of the means of achieving sustainable development and increasing the quality of life of citizens, which will be generally available to all people. On the other hand, the studies of quality of life in Tehran show that district 1 with 33.85 square meters of green space per capita ranks fourteenth in terms of citizen satisfaction. While per capita green space in this region ranks third among other regions. These studies show that the quantity and quality of urban green spaces influence people's satisfaction with urban green spaces very little. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to know and investigate the relationship between the quantity and quality of green spaces and the impact of each on the satisfaction of users of urban green spaces.
Material and Methodology: In this study, the data was collected using a questionnaire, the statistical population is park users, the sampling method was random and using Cochran's formula, 384 people were calculated and finally, they were analyzed using SPSS software. To check the reliability of the questionnaire, Cronbach's alpha test was used, and the total coefficient is equal to 0.891. The statistical tests used in the research include descriptive analysis, inferential analysis and sample t-test. This research will include three main variables (quality, quantity, satisfaction). The quality variable includes (permeability, diversity, legibility, flexibility, visual proportions, sensory richness and color belonging) and the quantity variable includes (park size, density of vegetation, furniture, etc.).
Findings: Based on the statistical analysis, the importance of the quality of urban parks in satisfaction is 4.14, the importance of the quantity of urban parks in satisfaction is 4.12, and the average satisfaction with Mehregan Park is 2.8, which indicates that satisfaction with Mehregan Park is in low level.
Discussion and conclusion: The results of this research show that for the construction of urban green spaces, in addition to per capita green space, its quality is also very important for increasing people's satisfaction. All these factors will create a proper green space and improve the citizen’s quality of life.
