Abstract :
Abstract The present study aimed to investigate the factor structure and determining the internal consistency of the Bam Sex-Role Inventory (form 30 items). The study method is descriptive and correlation research for the analysis of covariance matrix. Data were collected from 402 students of high school in 2017-2018 by stratified-cluster sampling. To determine the factorial validity, Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and exploratory factor analysis (EFA) were used. In order to determine the internal consistency, Cronbach's alpha coefficient was used. The findings showed that Bam's theoretical model was not fitted with collected data, In contrast to the obtained model from exploratory factor analysis showed acceptable fit with data. The Cronbach alpha coefficient in the whole inventory, the masculinity and femininity subscales was respectively 0.70, 0.70 and 0.61. The results of the research repeated the findings of some previous studies about the BSRI-dependent culture and the extraction of a different factorial structure than theoretical logic. Regarding the non-fit of Bam's theoretical model, the inappropriate patterns of the coefficients in some items and the low correlation of some items with the whole scale, the BSRI Form 30 should be revised to evaluate the gender characteristics of Iranian adolescents
