Abstract :
The aim of this study was to compare the initial maladaptive schemas, metacognitive beliefs and source of control in schizophrenic and bipolar patients. The statistical population of patients with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder type 1 admitted to Ibn Sina Hospital in Shiraz between 2017 - 2018 and the statistical sample of two groups of 30 people were a total of 60 men with type 1 bipolar disorder (30 people) and schizophrenia. They were purposefully selected. Instruments used were Young Young Form cognitive maladaptive schemas (75 questions) (2007), Wales Metacognitive Beliefs Questionnaire (MCQ-30) (1997), Rutter Form 29-item Internal-External Control Scale (1996), SPSS-26 software and method Use was also univariate and multivariate analysis of variance. Regarding the initial maladaptive schemas, the results showed that only 4 schemas of failure, dependence / inadequacy, self-sacrifice and entitlement were different in the two groups. The other (self-sacrifice and merit) has been in favor of the group with type 1 bipolar disorder. Regarding metacognitive beliefs, only the metacognitive processes of cognitive self-awareness in the two groups had a significant difference, and this difference was in favor of the group with type 1 bipolar disorder. Regarding the control source variable, the findings showed that the two groups had a significant difference in favor of the group with schizophrenia.
