Abstract :
Abstract This study was carried out in the south–west Caspian Sea (in coastal of Kiashahr waters) form September 2007 until May 2008 on Vimba vimba species of Cyprinidae. The samplings were monthly and samples were collected by several fishing gears beach seine. 415 specimens of Vimba vimba were caught. The measured parameters were: TL, FL, SL, body weight, age (using scales) and sex. All studied fishes were classified in 3 age groups (1+, 2+, 3+) years.Mean fork length and mean body weight of males were 164±16.17mm and 60.7±21.23gr, respectively, and in females were 183±17.68 mm and 89.4±26.88gr, respectively. Most of the fishes (84.8%) were 2+ years old and the least (0.48 %) were 3+ years old. Sex determination of 412 fishes showed that 42% of them were males and 58 % were females with a ratio of 1 to 1.38. Mean fat rate and condition factor (CF) in males and females were 0.98±0.07 and 1.04±0.08, respectively.
