An Investigation into the Psychological and Counseling Needs of Industrial Centers

Abstract :
This study aimed at assessing the psychological and counseling needs of the industrial centers. The population included all active industrial centers of Semnan province totally 85 to all of which the questionnaire was administered. The research instrument included a researcher-made questionnaire with 31 items with a reliability coefficient of .90. Statistical methods used were descriptive statistics (including frequency, percentage, and mean), Friedman nonparametric test, and Page’s trend test (L test). The results of Page’s trend test showed that the industrial centers of Semnan Province require psychological and counseling services in both industrial and organizational areas. The results of Friedman test showed that, out of six domains of industrial/ organizational psychology, job motivation and behavior came first, Personnel selection second, environmental health and work safety third, job analysis fourth, performance appraisal fifth, and training and development came sixth.
