Designing a Management Development Model for Hospitals Affiliated with Iranian Social Security Organization

Abstract :
The main goal of the present Study was to identify the most important factors for the ManagementDevelopment programs in Social Security Organization Hospitals. To identify the currentqualification indicators used in recruiting Managers was also a Side interest to the study. In order toachieve the above goal, managers of the hospitals affiliated with Social Security Organizationthrough the country (total of 31) were surveyed using a self-report questionnaire. The questionnairecontained five dimensions and 165 items. The questionnaires were distributed and collected by theSocial Security Organization head quarter office .The data on recruitment process of managers andqualifications required for their selection was collected via an interview with the top executives inthe Social Security Organization office .The findings in this research indicated that the currentrecruitment process of managers in the hospitals affiliated with the Social Security Organizationdoes not takes into account all of the dimensions suitable to management development . In thisresearch most of the investigated items found to be highly influential factor on managementdevelopment. With this knowledge at hand this research suggests that for designing a managementdevelopment program for the Social Security Organization, Hospitals all of the identifieddimensions (I. e. Knowledge, abilities, skills, personality and attitudes) should be taken underconsideration. A model for management development in such organization has been identified inthis research and the important factors are introduced.
