Designing the model of selection indicators for the head coach of the national volleyball team of the Islamic Republic of Iran

Abstract :
The purpose of this research was to design a model of indicators for selecting the head coach of the national volleyball team of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The research method was descriptive-analytical and practical in terms of purpose. The statistical population of the research was the presidents and managers (former and current) of the volleyball federation who had executive records in the field of sports and management, as well as the head coaches of the adult, youth and youth national volleyball teams, etc., who are somehow involved in the selection of the head coach. According to the purpose of the research, the statistical sample was selected in the form of purposeful sampling and snowball method. The method of this research was descriptive-analytical and practical in terms of the goal, the measurement tool in this research was conducting qualitative interviews with experts in the field of volleyball until reaching theoretical saturation. The results of the research showed that the indicators for the selection of the head coach of the national volleyball team depend on 4 main indicators, i.e. managerial indicators, technical indicators, personality indicators and social indicators. technical indicators (12 indicators), social indicators (9 indicators) and finally personality indicators (9 indicators). According to the results of the research, it can be suggested that the officials and members of the technical committee of the volleyball federation, in selecting the head coach of the national team, select people who have the indicators and criteria set by the experts in order to witness the increasing progress and success of the national volleyball team in international competitions.
