Abstract :
The aim of this research was to analyze the content and financial support trends in the Iranian Football Premier League and the Spanish Football Premier League (La Liga) in four categories: industry, stability, support, and support dependency. This descriptive-analytical research used a comparative study approach through content analysis and quantitative trend analysis. The population and sample of this research were the supporters of clubs participating in La Liga in Spain and the Iranian Football Premier League from 2010 to 2022. All data were collected from library sources and analyzed. The results of the research indicated a clear difference in the analyzed indicators between Iranian and Spanish football. The popular industry supporting and stable industry in Spanish football was betting and online gaming, while in Iran, it was the steel and automotive industries. A notable finding was the strong dependency on the government among support categories in Iranian football, which contrasted with the 1000% presence of the private sector in Spain, highlighting the unique role of the private sector. In general, diversifying support categories, aiding in maintaining supporter stability, promoting private sector involvement in football, and strengthening businesses and industries related to sports and football are essential factors for developing support in professional football. It is recommended to focus on these aspects to enhance support in football.
