A comparative study of the role of the innocents and the components of the second step of the Islamic revolution in reaching the Islamic civilization

Abstract :

Considering the historical background of Muslims in their efforts to create an advanced and civilization-building Islamic system, examining and analyzing the factors influencing the process of forming Islamic civilization is of strategic importance. Achieving a modern Islamic civilization requires a precise understanding of authentic religious sources as well as the use of contemporary strategic documents, each of which can be considered as a guide in this path. One of the most important religious sources in Shiite thought is the life and teachings of the Infallibles (peace be upon them), which have always been considered as a comprehensive and complete model in the individual, social, cultural and governance spheres. On the other hand, the Declaration of the Second Step of the Islamic Revolution, which was issued by the Supreme Leader at the beginning of the fifth decade of the Islamic Revolution, is a strategic document that outlines the path towards a new Islamic civilization within the framework of the capacities of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Islamic world. The present study, using a descriptive-analytical method and based on the analysis of library resources, has conducted a comparative study between the role of the Infallibles (peace be upon them) and the key components of the Declaration of the Second Step of the Islamic Revolution. The findings of the study indicate that components such as political independence and attention to the people, spirituality and morality, scientism and attention to research and education, and justice and combating corruption are common elements that play a pivotal role in the realization of Islamic civilization in both the theoretical and practical life of the Infallibles (peace be upon them) and the Second Step Statement. This discursive alignment between the two sources reflects the historical and strategic continuity in Islamic thought for civilization-building. From the perspective of this study, the life of the Infallibles (peace be upon them) as a divine-human model for educating the Islamic society, and the Second Step Statement as a civilization-building roadmap for the present era, complement each other, and by relying on these two sources, a native, religious, and operational model for a new Islamic civilization can be drawn. This synergy has the potential to enhance the level of awareness of elites and officials, strengthen the civilizational discourse of the Islamic Revolution in the Islamic world, and bring closer the path to realizing Islamic civilization.
