Abstract :
This study aimed at studying the relationship between students' learning styles and educational achievement in English courses in Shiraz high schools. This descriptive-survey study employed random stratified sampling method to draw a sample of 392 students (male=324 and female=149) from among all high school students of Shiraz in the school year 1387-1388 comprising a total of 27000. The sample of the study included first grade, second grade and third grade students majoring in mathematics and physics, humanities and nature science. To assess their learning styles, a questionnaire was administered to the students. In addition students' English achievement grades were used as indicators of their educational achievement. In order to analyze the data, a use was made of descriptive statistics along with t-test, ANOVA and regression analysis. The results of the study indicated that there was no significant relationship between students' learning styles and educational achievement. Nor was there any significant difference between female and male student's learning styles. However, it was revealed that there was a significant relationship between students' major and their learning styles.
