Prediction of Educational Improvement Based on Self-Efficacy, Self-Regulation and Creativity of Students in Islamic Azad University, Roudehen Branch

Abstract :
The present study entitled as "Prediction of educational improvement based on self-efficacy, self-regulation and creativity of undergraduate students" was conducted on a sample group of 300 students of undergraduate from the Islamic Azad University of Roudehen Branch in the academic year of 2010-11, by stratified random sampling. The instruments of the study were "the third scale" of the Sherer’s self-efficacy, the Bufford’s self-regulation and the Abedi’s creativity inventory implemented on the sample group. In addition to the three above mentioned tools, another questionnaire was also used to collect the information regarding the demographic features as well as the GPA of the previous semester of the individuals in the sample group, as an indicator for their academic achievement. Statistical methods were multivariate regression analysis. The following results were drawn after the collection, and analysis of the data: among the three variables of self-efficacy, self-regulation and creativity, self-efficacy was the only variable with which the academic achievement could be predicted; In regard to the female students, self-efficacy was the only major factor to predict the academic achievement; in regard to the male students, among the three variables of self-efficacy, self-regulation and creativity, creativity was the only variable with which the academic achievement could be predicted; comparing the beta coefficients for boys and girls, the girls’ self- efficacy had a significant relationship with their academic achievement; the beta self-efficacy in girls was more than boys, and the boys’ academic achievement had a significant correlation with their creativity; the beta creativity in boys was more than girls.
