Relationship between Transformational Leadership and Applying Knowledge Management among High School Teachers in Qarchak

Abstract :
This research aimed at investigating the relationship between transformational leadership and applying knowledge management among high school teachers in Qarchak, a town in Tehran Province. The research method was descriptive and correlational. The research population included all high school teachers (male and female), 1392 people, in Qarchak in the academic year of 92-93. The sample size was estimated to be 237 people based on Morgan table and they were shosen using simple random sampling method. To gather data and assess teachers' transformational leadership, Bass and Avolio Multifactor Leadership standardized questionnaire was applied, and to assess teachers' knowledge management Hemmati's questionnaire was used. This research benefited from descriptive statistical methods (such as percentage, mean and frequency) and inferential statistics such as Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression, and SPSS software to analyze data. The findings of the study indicated that there was a significant relationship between the evolutionary leadership and each knowledge management factor (knowledge creation, knowledge sharing, storing knowledge, and application of knowledge).The results of multiple regression showed that four components of evolutionary leadership (individual consideration, intellectual persuasion, inspirational motivation and idealized influence) can predict the application of knowledge management among high school teachers in Qarchak. Finally, based on the literature and results, this research proposes some strategies for improving evolutionary leadership and knowledge management.
