The Pathology of Tehran Guidance Schools Evaluation System and Strategies for Improving Educational Evaluation

Abstract :
The present study aimed at investigating the pathology of Tehran Guidance Schools evaluation system and strategies for improving educational evaluation The population included all guidance schools teachers in Tehran which included 15870 persons in the 91-92 school year. The sample of the study was chosen based on kerjsy and Morgan Table and consisted of 308 persons chosen randomly. To assess the probable damage to guidance education evaluation system according to depth study of the theoretical and research backgrounds, a researcher-made questionnaire was designed which consisted of three main components with 30 items. The content validity of the questionnaire was confirmed by ten experts and its reliability was calculated and verified by Cronbakh's Alpha which appeared to be 0.89. The other researcher-made questionnaire was also used to investigate the strategies for improving the educational evaluation system. The validity and reliability of the tool were confirmed too. The results showed that: according to guidance schools teachers' point of view the main damages made in scope towards students and teachers as well as the structure of system. The improvement of strategies related to teachers and the structure of system affect the improvement of the educational evaluation more than the strategies which are related to students. The guidance schools evaluation system is in agreement with the theoretical evaluation patterns and students' characteristics. Also, male and female teachers had different views about the damages. Male teachers believed that the mentioned damages were more important. According to them, it was very important to tackle the weaknesses of the current evaluation system.
