A Comparative Study of the Staffs’ Views of Shiraz University and Shiraz Medical Sciences University Concerning Degree of Readiness for Becoming Learning Organizations based on the Senge’s Learning Organization Principles

Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to carry out a comparative study of the staffs’views of the Shiraz University and Shiraz Medical Sciences University concerning the degree of readiness for becoming learning organizations based on the Senge’s learning organization principles. This research was a descriptive survey. The population of this research consisted of the staff of Shiraz University and Shiraz Medical Sciences University (470 employees of Shiraz and 302 employees of Medical Sciences). The sample included 257 individual employees of both Shiraz University and Shiraz Medical Sciences University staff. The method for selection of the sample was random sampling. The method used for analysis of the data was independent t-test. The results showed that there was not any significant difference found in the views of the staff of both universities concerning the Personal Mastery and Mental Models. There was a significant difference found in the views of the staff of the two universities concerning the Shared Vision, but Shiraz University staff did not show readiness for becoming a learning organization. There was not any significant difference found in the views of the staff of both universities concerning the Team Learning and System Thinking, but neither of them showed readiness to become a learning organization.
