Surveying the Degree of Critical Thinking Skills of M. A. Students of Librarianship and Information of Science and Research Branch of Islamic Azad University, Khouzestan

Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to investigate the degree of critical thinking skills of M.A. students of librarianship and information of Science and Research Branch of Islamic Azad University of Khuzestan. The method was library research, and in the type of applied and survey. The applied tool was the Questionnaire of California’s Standard. The statistical population consisted of M.A. students of Librarianship and Information in the Science and Research Branch of Islamic Azad University of Khuzestan. Out of 85 subjects who received the questionnaire, 76 filled it out and returned it back. The SPSS version 19 was used to analyze the obtained the obtained data and the analysis of variance and the t test were used to test the research hypotheses. Findings showed that the degree of critical thinking skills is higher in male students, i.e., 11.15 average than female students, i.e., 10.24 average. The students who entered the university in the academic year of 90 with the average of 11.43 enjoyed more skills than year of 89 with the average of 9.63. The critical thinking skills were possessed by older students than young ones. Furthermore, there was not a significant difference among students regarding age, sex. On the whole, the results of the study showed that the critical thinking skills of M.A. students were at a low level.
