Abstract :
Electromyography (EMG) signals are a fundamental source of information regarding the electrical activity of muscles, offering critical insights into the functional status of the neuromuscular system. These signals are essential for diagnosing neuromuscular disorders, assessing muscle functionality, and analyzing movement patterns. However, due to their high sensitivity to various forms of interference including power line noise, motion artifacts, and environmental disturbances along with their inherent weakness, EMG signals require meticulous amplification, filtering, and processing. This paper introduces the design and construction of a portable system specifically developed for the acquisition and processing of EMG signals, employing advanced filtering and amplification techniques. The amplified and filtered signals are sampled by an analog-to-digital converter and transmitted to a web application via a Wi-Fi module, facilitating real-time visualization of the raw, rectified, and average peak signals. The novelty of this design lies in the synergistic combination of advanced filtering and amplification circuits, which enhance the signal-to-noise ratio while enabling real-time data transmission to a web application. This system is adept at eliminating environmental noise, amplifying weak EMG signals, and providing an interactive user interface for comprehensive signal analysis. Results demonstrate that the system's frequency response is optimally aligned with the requirements of EMG signals, significantly mitigating the effects of interfering frequency noise. The implementation of a higher-resolution ADC and higher-order filters has yielded substantial improvements in overall system performance.
