Abstract :
In the present study, the effects of the policy of eliminating support for institutions, guaranteed purchase, and liberalization of the price of agricultural products on the pattern of cultivation and consumption of agricultural inputs in the Firozabad plain of Fars province were investigated. GAMS software and a positive mathematical programming model (PMP) with a cost function approach were used for data modeling and analysis, and the effects of institutional and price policy tools were investigated. The results of the present study showed that with the removal of institutional support, along with the increase in production costs, the cultivated area of crops decreased by about 70%. So the cultivation of crops such as irrigated barely, rainfed barley, rainfed lentils, and rainfed chickpeas were not prioritized by the producers. This change has led to a significant reduction in the consumption of agricultural water inputs and chemical fertilizers.
