Abstract :
Purpose: The purpose of the present research is to investigate the effectiveness of pedagogic theater on the promotion of emotional intelligence in the 7-12 year-old children in Tehran. Methods: This study was an empirical research using two-group pretest-posttest design. Control-group pretest-posttest included an experiment group and a control group. The studied population included 7-12 year-old children living in 22 districts of Tehran. The samples included 40 children (20 boys and 20 girls) who were selected by random sampling and evaluated by the measurement instrument. The measurement instrument was the Schutte Emotional intelligence Scale for children; validity and reliability of this scale was confirmed in numerous studies. Data were analyzed by ANCOVA. Findings: Statistical analysis showed that theatre pedagogy (effect size=0.62) increases emotional intelligence of children. Conclusion: therefore, it is recommended to consider role playing for children to reflect important characters of elementary school children.
