Identifying the weaknesses of implementing internal controls in educational institutions: roots and consequences

Abstract :

Today,the expansion of the activities of commercial and public units and the complexity of the organization have caused that the managers of economic units, according to their responsibility and in line with the achievement of the organization's goals,in order to prevent fraud,collusion and waste of the organization's resources,and to ensure the optimal allocation of resources from control use internal ones.Therefore, the current research was carried out with the aim of identifying the weak points of the implementation of internal controls in educational institutions:roots and consequences.This research is again a mixed research (qualitative-quantitative).In this research,in the qualitative part,using grounded theory,the weak points of internal controls and the causal,contextual and intervening factors affecting internal controls and the strategies and consequences of improving internal controls are discussed.According to the research implementation method, information was collected using interviews. Six questions were asked during an interview of the subjects, which included 12 accounting professors who had teaching or management experience in one of the educational institutions.This research reached theoretical saturation with 12 experts.In the following,the results of qualitative data analysis using MAXQD software are presented to answer the questions.Also, in the quantitative section,111 financial staff members who made up our statistical sample,have been analyzed in order to investigate the relationship between the variables to investigate the research questions.The collected data have been analyzed using AMOS software.The results of the weak points of internal controls are affected by the factors of causal factors,contextual factors and intervening factors in terms of the structural model.
