Abstract :
The purpose of the current study was to investigate the role of mobile dependency in the prediction of academic self-concept and school engagement in high school students of the Salas Babjani town during the academic year 2014-2015. The research method was descriptive correlational and the statistical population included all male and female high school students of the Salas Babajani during the academic year 2014-2015, that 210 of them(100 male and 110 female) based on stratified random sampling were selected as sample. Mobile dependency questionnaire (2008), academic self-concept questionnaire (2004) and the school engagement questionnaire (2011) were applied to gather the required data. The face and content validity of the questionnaires had been approved by the experts in the field and their reliability has been reported to be 0/81, 0/90 and 0/86 respectively. To analyze the data using descriptive statistics including mean and standard deviation and inferential statistics including Pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple regression. The findings showed a significant negative correlation between the mobile dependency with academic self-concept(r= -0/425) and school engagement(r= -0/455). The results of the regression analysis indicated that 68 percent of academic self-concept and 53 percent of school engagement can be predicted by mobile dependency and its components.
