Abstract :
This research has investigated some common phonological processes in Behbahani Dialect within the framework of Optimality Theory. These processes include: assimilation, deletion, weakening of consonants b, f, and v to bilabial-velar glide [w], insertion of bilabial-velar glide [w], changes of palatal stop /c/ to glide [j] at the end of the word. This research used field method and targeted interview to collect data. In addition, some data were extracted from written sources such as theses and books written about the Behbahani Dialect. One of the authors of the article is also from Behbahan, and as an informant, he also played a role in this research and confirms the accuracy of the data. The informants were ten men and women, illiterate and educated people of different ages. After collecting the data, the desired words were carefully transcribed and analyzed phonologically in Optimality Theory. The results show that in this dialect, the processes of deletion and weakening have more frequency than other processes.
