Abstract :
The present study aimed to determine the predictive role of mother-child communication components in child anxiety with emphasis on mothers' ego strength, metaemotions, and thematic relationships. The research method was correlational and the statistical population included mothers with children with anxiety symptoms in Tehran in the summer of 2023. Voluntary sampling was used to select the samples and a sample of 267 people was selected. The variables used to measure the child anxiety questionnaires were Spence Form Parents (2001), Besharat ego strength (2016), Bell et al.'s thematic relationships (1986), and Mittmansgruber et al.'s metaemotions (2009). The data were analyzed using correlation and regression methods using SPSS version 24 and the results showed that mothers' ego strength and positive metaemotions have a negative and significant relationship with child anxiety, and mothers' thematic relationships and negative metaemotions have a positive and significant relationship with child anxiety. Also, according to the regression model, the research variables predict a total of 36.80 percent of the changes in child anxiety. Based on the findings of this study, a model for predicting child anxiety based on these characteristics of mothers is important, and this is an important step towards explaining and intervening in children's anxiety, which must be taken into account when designing and implementing interventions.
