Abstract :

Nostalgia is the feeling of sadness when remembering the past, and poems that express a longing for a return to the past are considered nostalgic. Gross Abdul Malekian and Ahmad Matar are contemporary Iranian and Iraqi poets who, due to the specific circumstances of their personal lives and the prevailing times, have a special reflection of nostalgia in their poems, which can be reflected in a clearer understanding of their poems by reflecting on them. They have used nostalgia as a special artistic tool to express their emotions, feelings, regrets, and sorrows. This study, using descriptive and analytical methods, examines and compares individual nostalgia in the poems of Gross Abdul Malekian and Ahmad Matar. The findings show that the poems of Gross and Matar in the field of personal nostalgia include the following themes: nostalgia for childhood memories, nostalgia for losing friends, nostalgia for relatives, nostalgia for the beloved, nostalgia for inner alienation. Examining personal nostalgia in the poems of these two poets plays an important role in understanding their poetry and recognizing their personal spirits and the conditions of their times.
