Abstract :

In all cultures, including Iran, the element of water is known as a symbol of construction, purity, and prosperity. Due to its great importance, it has been introduced as one of the four elements that constitute life. The importance and status of water in the past, including in Iran, was so great that it led to the worship of the goddess of water by Iranians. On the other hand, this land has always faced the crisis of water shortage and drought since the distant past. On this basis, the people of this land have always respected and attached great importance to this vital element and have tried to create mechanisms to provide and store this life-giving element for the use of their people. One of the main sources of water supply is the Qanat, which was first invented and built by Iranians. Qazvin is also one of the cities that has faced a water shortage crisis in the past, and its people used well water until about the fourth century AH. The first aqueducts in this city were built during the Ghaznavid era, and other aqueducts were built until about the seventh century. Therefore, in the following article, the construction and architecture of the aqueducts are examined in a descriptive-historical manner. Finally, the most important aqueducts of the city of Qazvin are introduced.
