Abstract :
Echinaceaepurpurea (L.)Moench , perennial herbaceous plant belonging to Asteraceae family , native of North America . Echinacea anti- fungal , anti- bacterial and anti-viral effects. In this study, aerial part of Echinacea dried using six different methods including shade-drying, sun-drying, greenhouse-drying and drying shield drier industrial at 50 , 60 and 80 ° C. Active ingredients of samples by using ultrasound bath were extracted, and the values of Caffeic acid derivatives , Alkamides ( 8 and 9 ) using high performance liquid chromatography ( HPLC) , and Total phenol content were determined with a spectrophotometer. The results showed that the samples were dried in a greenhouse highest amounts of Chlorogenic acid (3.18mg/g.dw), Echinacoside (4.29mg/g.dw), Cynaric acid (1.55mg/g.dw) and total phenol content (363 mg / g.dw) . The highest values of samples dried in the shade Caftaric acid (25.8 mg / g.dw), Cichoric acid (36.57 mg / g.dw) and Alkamides (361.1 μg / g.dw ). Finally the results showe that the use of greenhouses drying and drying in the shade is the best methods for drying in Echinacea purpurea.
