Abstract :
As a triangular –shaped island, Sicily is located at the heart of the Mediterranean Sea. It has been of a significantly economic condition which benefited from such resources as gold, silver, and ore mines, as well as connecting with North Africa and Andalusia through the Mediterranean Sea. Sicily was strategically important for Romans because they used it as a base for invading north of Africa and Andalusia. For this reason, it attracted the attention of Muslims and was easily exposed to Muslim invasion. There are chapters in the history show that the rule of Bin-Aghlab dynasty (184-296 A.H.) in the west of Edni (modern Tunisia) had sovereignty over, access to economic resources and strict control on the entire Mediterranean Sea. The purpose of the present study was to analysis the economic condition of Sicily during the Aghlabids era. This research, relying on a library sources, seeks to explain and analyze the most influential factors in the development of the economic prosperity of Sicily. It seems that the Aghlabids with their own policies of coinage, establishment of maritime facilities and trade with Islamic countries of the Mediterranean area boosted the economic growth of Sicily. In this period, exporting the cultivation technique of a variety of crops as well as introducing the handicraft and Muslims' fine arts to Europe had been increasingly boomed.
