Abstract :
Designing the layout of facilities such as machinery, sections, work stations, etc. together should be done in such a way that the suppliers can present their products and services at maximum productivity and profitability by taking into consideration a set of objectives, restraints, and other conditions. Layout design and arrangement of facilities is typically a multi-attribute problem in which the quantitative as well as the qualitative criteria are important. In this article, a multi- attribute decision- making technique is proposed based on polygons area on the Radar diagram for ranking different layout design patterns using two groups of criteria. To indicate the efficiency of the proposed method and certainty of the obtained results, Spearman’s rank order correlation between the ranks obtained using this method and other frequently used and important multi-attribute decision- making methods was computed. The obtained results show that there is a high correlation between the rankings obtained from the polygons area method for selecting suitable layout with other frequently used multi-attribute decision-making methods. Thus, the proposed method can be recommended for selecting appropriate layout and other issues concerning industrial media.
