Marital commitment prediction based on relationship patterns: Mediator role of love styles

Abstract :
Commitment is considered as one of the important factors of successful without which the relationship between the couples would be superficial and weak. So the partners would not be able to experience the depth of love and intimacy that are the results of loyalty and commitment. The aim of this study is to predict marital commitment based on relationship patterns with the mediator role of love styles. The method of this research was descriptive- correlative. In order to achieve the goals of this study, among all married female teachers who were teaching at 96-97 at Tabriz state schools, 237 people were selected as sample of this research with multistage cluster sampling. Data were gathered through Communication Pattern Questionnaire(CPQ), Inventory Dimensions of Commitment(ICD) Questionnaire and Triangular Inventory of Love Sternberg Questionnaire and analyzed through multiple regression analysis which is the usual least squares method for calculating path coefficients. the results indicated that there was a positive is positive and meaningful correlation between the constructive communication pattern with marital commitment and there was a negative and meaningful correlation between expectation/withdrawal communication pattern and marital commitment. the findings showed that , there was a positive and meaningful correlation between love styles(intimacy, thrill, commitment) and marital commitment and love styles in fact predict marital commitment. Moreover, love styles(intimacy, thrill, commitment) have mediator role in a relationship between communication patterns and marital commitment. Regarding the meaningful role of communication patterns and love styles in marital commitment, therapists can apply communication patterns and love styles in Couple and family consultings.
