Abstract :
The present study was conducted with the aim of determining the effectiveness of self-awareness training on aggressive behavior and social adjustment of adolescent girls. The research method was semi-experimental with a pre-test and post-test design with a control group. The statistical population was female secondary school students of the 2nd district of Tehran who were studying in the academic year of 2018-2019. The research sample consisted of 40 people who were selected by the available sampling method and according to the study entry and exit criteria. The experimental group received self-awareness intervention during ten weekly 60-minute sessions. The tools used in this research included aggression questionnaires by Buss and Perry (1992) and social adjustment by Sinha and Singh (1993). The data was analyzed by analysis of covariance using SPSS software version 26. The findings showed that there was a significant difference between the experimental and control groups in terms of aggressive behavior and social adjustment (p<0.05). Therefore, self-awareness can be suggested as an effective method to reduce aggressive behavior and increase social adaptation in female students to schools and medical and educational centers.
