Abstract :
The existing higher education curricula in Iran has been produced by Higher Education Planning Institute, which started in 1363. Its goals include: to provide ‘a uniform higher education educational system’, following all principles of curriculum development and research, to coordinate curricula and educational changes, to train human resources, to establish a link to decision making institution and executive organizations, to update the curricula based on social and economic needs(Comparative and innovative department, 1378, p.89). There exist some challenges facing Higher Education and university curricula. “Today, there is mismatch between curricula and job market needs; the curricula cannot help students to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to function properly in the evolving job markets.”(Arefy, 1384, p.21) Training people by higher education should be in such a way that provides them with the competencies needed for general and special functioning. This will not happen unless the curricula are designed to develop such competencies in students
