The Effect of Acceptant and Commitment Therapy on Adaptive and Maladaptive Strategies of Cognitive Emotion Regulation in in Methadone Maintenance Addicts

Abstract :
Drug addiction as a psychiatric disorder with biological, psychological, social and spiritual dimensions is one of the problems of the present age. The main purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of acceptance and commitment therapy on adaptive and maladaptive strategies of cognitive emotion regulation in methadone maintenance addicts in Shiraz addiction treatment centers in (1399). This research was a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group and purposive sampling method, which was performed according to the desired entry and exit criteria in the research method.The group performed an experiment in 12 0-minute sessions of treatment on acceptance and testing, but the control group performed the intervention during the research..The instrument used in this study was Garnefsky Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (1999) which was completed by the subjects before and after the intervention to determine the effectiveness of the treatment. The results of analysis of covariance indicated that the treatment was based on Acceptance and commitment increased adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies and decreased the use of maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies in addicted individuals (P <0.01). The results showed that acceptance-based therapy has a significant effect on cognitive regulation of emotion in addicts leaving and is an effective treatment for the recovery of addicted patients and this treatment can be used along with other drugs.
